hey guys
i have been thinking what to do with my hard tail xc bike
well after thinking so hard i came up with an idea
take every thing off of it, buy a all mountain frame with dual suspension and just put all the parts back on it
now the question is what should the frame be
3 options
giant trance, anthem
santacruz nomad, built, or heckler
yeti 575, asr5, asr 7
then all i need are some new brakes and shifters and derailleurs
dont know hayes or juicy 7 , maguras, or hope
dont realy know what shifters any idea
or derailleurs
finaly what front fork
fox
marzzochi
or magura
im looking for a single crown that will get the job done
so yah this is my little project that im thinking of
can u guys help out just a bit by giving some clues and ideas

Since you already have a downhill bike, you should go for something a little more towards the xc/all mountain end of the spectrum. Look for what's available used and cheap that is in the 4-6" travel range. worry about the brakes and components when you get to that point.

It will be cheaper to but a fully built new or used bike then to just buy a frame and components.

Best thing is to test ride your short list. Most shops are pretty good at demos. Helen's, Pasadena Cyclery, Incycle, The Path, H&S Bikes all have demo bikes.
I tried about 7 bikes before deciding on one. Each demo was about a week, so I could get a good feel of what i liked and disliked about each one.
For me, used was not an option since I didn't want to magnuflux the frame for cracks, etc. just to find out I wasted my cash. Frame failure is never fun and at a minimum ruin your day, if not getting injured. Ceavat emptor.
Please keep in mind maintenance, durability, customer support and resale value since down the line that should be a factor as well. That is, unless you ride it untll it breaks like I did.
That said, youv'e got a pretty good list there. The ASR-7 is pretty nice bike.
my $.02

Just a frame I have laying around. It's used and needs to be repolished to get that mirror finish. No cracks or dents.
